Performance

All eight of the Mazda CX-50’s trim levels have standard all-wheel drive and a six-speed auto transmission. The non-turbo trim levels feature a 187-horsepower, 2.5-liter, four-cylinder unit, and the other trim levels come with a 227-horsepower turbo variant. For the Mazda CX-90, the five trims come with a turbo 3.3-liter V6 engine, all-wheel drive, and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The standard engine produces 280 horsepower, and an upgraded variant produces 340 horsepower. There is also a Mazda CX-90 PHEV model, which uses a plug-in hybrid powertrain that generates a combined 323 horsepower.

Appearance

The compact 2024 Mazda CX-50 shows off rolling, crisp accents over the sides with a molded door lip and smoothly accented rear fenders. The small headlights show off a U-shaped LED ribbon and connect with a short, wide grille. The lower fascia includes a thin central element with tall, gill-like air intakes on the flanks. The Mazda CX-90, on the other hand, replaces the black molding with chrome lower-body accents. The roof is strongly tapered, and the sides display an air inlet near the front wheels. The grille is deeper than the Mazda CX-50’s, strongly outlined on three sides with a chrome element. The stretched headlights connect with this chrome piece. Deep air inlets stand below the headlights.
